About Lights of the City Taxi
A yellow taxi sits across the lower right of the frame, photographed so far out of focus that its windows, door panels and headlights dissolve into smooth blocks of colour. Only the roof sign and the dark grille hold any edge. Behind it, a street vendor's striped awning breaks into bands of pink, orange and aqua, and round bokeh circles of white, magenta and green float across the middle of the picture. Pale grey and blue building facades fill the upper half, with dark window openings repeating in soft rows.
The whole image is built from blur rather than detail, so colour and light do the work: warm yellow against cool blue-grey concrete, with scattered coloured circles reading as signs, lamps and reflections. It has the feel of a city glimpsed quickly through a rain-streaked window.
Suits a living room, hallway or home office with grey, white or navy walls, where the yellow acts as the one strong colour in the room. Works beside black metal frames, charcoal upholstery and timber shelving, and pairs well with other city or travel photography. Also good above a bedhead in a neutral bedroom.
