About Love in Amsterdam
A row of tall Amsterdam canal houses stands shoulder to shoulder across the middle of the frame, their gables stepped and pointed at different heights. Facades shift from dark red brick to pale blue-grey and cream render, with rows of white-framed windows catching flat daylight. A taller square block rises behind the centre with a small flag on its roof. Below runs a stone and brick quay wall, then the canal itself, rippled dark grey-green water filling the lower third. The sky is overcast, soft and almost white.
Pinned to the quay wall on the right is a large black banner covered in white hand-lettered words, AMORE, LOVE, DANGER ZONE and CONTAGIOUS among them, the one loud element in an otherwise quiet, muted city scene.
Suits a living room, bedroom or home office with grey, navy or charcoal walls, and works well above a dark timber sideboard or a linen sofa.
