About Lys II
A single open iris fills the right of this square composition, its petals a saturated teal blue with darker veins fanning out from a shadowed centre. A second, smaller bud leans in from the upper left, still tightly furled, with a faint third bloom fading out at the lower left edge. Slender lime green stems run down to the bottom edge, thinning to wet, dripping lines. The background is a white wash bled through with soft aqua clouding around the flower heads.
Loose and quick in feeling, with runs, blooms and fine green speckles left visible where the pigment was allowed to spread. A small dark signature sits in the lower right corner. The overall character is light and airy: strong colour held in only a few places, the rest of the square left open and pale.
Suits bedrooms, bathrooms and light-filled living rooms with white or pale grey walls. The teal and lime read well against timber furniture, rattan and linen bedding. Works above a bath, a hall console or a bedhead, and pairs naturally with a second square floral of similar palette for a two-piece set. The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
