About Scooter Chic
A woman in a short red dress sits side-saddle on a vintage Vespa-style scooter, one hand raised to her mouth with a thin curl of smoke rising past her face. Her hair is painted in blocks of orange, pink and dark brown, and her legs are crossed above red stiletto heels. The scooter itself is built from flat patches of red, yellow, pink, grey and green, with black tyres and a chrome mirror on a thin stalk.
Behind the seat sits a small white dog with pricked ears, perched on a pale bag scattered with red, green and blue dots. Everything floats on an almost empty pale blue-grey ground with a soft smudged shadow beneath the wheels. The paint is applied in confident, squared-off strokes with visible ridges. The mood is playful and a little cheeky, more poster-bold than delicate.
Suits a hallway, kitchen nook, apartment living room or a teenager's bedroom where a single bright square can carry a plain wall. Works against white, grey or soft blue paint, and pairs well with chrome, pale timber and mid-century seating. The red dress picks up red cushions, rugs or a scarlet kitchen appliance.
