About Cheeky Grin Horse
A horse leans in from the right of the square canvas, head tilted so the muzzle fills the lower half and the grin runs almost to the edge. The long face is broken into blocks of pink, magenta, red and pale blue, like patchwork over the bone, while the muzzle and nose shift to soft greys and white. Wide white teeth sit above a glossy red lower lip. Thin black brush lines flick out into a wild, windblown forelock and mane across the flat lime green ground.
This one is played for comedy: the exaggerated grin and cartoon lips give the horse a mischievous, almost human expression. The bright lime background and patchwork colour keep it light and loud rather than serious animal portraiture.
Good for a kids' room, playroom or teenager's bedroom, and equally at home in a rumpus room, home bar or bright kitchen nook. The lime green reads best on a white or pale grey wall, and it pairs with plywood furniture, coloured cushions or other animal pop art. Strong enough to hang alone.
