About Marina City Chicago
Two cylindrical towers fill the upper half of the frame, shot from street level so the scalloped balcony floors stack away in tight curves toward a blank white sky. The concrete is washed in cool blue and steel grey, with glass panels flaring pale where light catches them. Bold block lettering reading CHICAGO RIVERWALK sits across the face of the nearer tower, half dissolved into the building surface. Lower down, a Ferris wheel with red and orange cars overlaps the base of the left tower.
The treatment is graphic rather than documentary: layered exposures, heightened blues and a cut-out white sky give the towers a poster-like edge. The result reads as a modern travel graphic of one of Chicago's best-known buildings.
Suits a home office, study or hallway where a single tall image works on a narrow wall. It sits well with black metal shelving, grey or white walls, leather and timber.
