About Maternity III
A woman with auburn hair swept back stands turned slightly away, her head lowered so her cheek rests against the blonde head of a small child held against her chest. She wears a loose white top whose fabric is built up in thick, chalky layers, while the child is dressed in rust orange with deeper brick shadows down the sleeve. The background is a quiet cream wash, broken by a band of pale grey-blue at lower left and a dark brown vertical shape along the right edge.
Faces are simplified almost to silhouette, with only the woman's closed eye and the curve of the child's cheek clearly drawn. The mood is quiet and protective, the colour kept to warm earth tones against soft neutral ground.
