About Melbourne Aerial View
A high aerial photograph looks north-west across Melbourne. The Yarra River cuts through the lower half as a flat, dark green channel, crossed by a road bridge, a pale pedestrian footbridge and a wide rail bridge at the right edge. Eureka Tower stands left of centre with its gold-glazed upper floors catching the light, flanked by Southbank apartment towers in grey, black and green glass. Rail yards, roads and car parks fill the foreground, and the suburbs run flat to a distant bay on the horizon.
Roughly the top third is sky: clear blue behind rows of small, evenly spaced white cumulus clouds that thin out towards the horizon. The mood is bright, clear daylight, with a documentary feel rather than a stylised one, so building facades, street grids and river reflections all hold fine detail.
Suits a home office, study or hallway where people stop to pick out landmarks, and works in living rooms with grey, white or timber finishes. Good above a desk or sideboard.
