About Yarra River Night
The photograph looks east along the Yarra River after dark, with Southbank's buildings crowded along the left bank and the water filling the lower right of the frame. The lit spire of the Arts Centre rises at the far left, the curved roof of Hamer Hall glows blue beneath it, and the striped Eureka Tower stands tall at centre right against a deep navy sky. Warm gold lamps run along the promenade arches, while a footbridge crosses the river in the distance.
The mood is calm rather than busy: the river is almost glassy, stretching every window light and street lamp into long vertical ribbons of gold, white and violet across the black water.
