About Mirage
The canvas is split by a low horizontal band roughly two-thirds down. Above it sits a washed field of olive green, mustard gold and burnt orange, streaked with thin drips of red and dark brown that run vertically like rain on glass. Below the band the colour turns to deep scarlet and near-black brown, scraped in broad horizontal pulls so the weave of the canvas shows through. At the centre, a cluster of small blocks in white, red and black reads like distant buildings or moored boats.
Fine white lines curve upward from that cluster, drawn with the edge of a knife, crossing the sky like rigging or reeds. The mood is warm and hazy, a heat-shimmer landscape that never quite settles into a place.
Suits a lounge room or dining wall painted white, grey or warm stone, where the reds can carry across the space. Works above a dark timber sideboard or a tan leather sofa, and sits well with brass lamps, rust cushions and green foliage. The tall format fits narrow walls beside a staircase or doorway.
