About Sunlit Patchwork
The canvas is built from overlapping rectangles of colour laid on with a palette knife. A broad lavender-blue block sits left of centre, streaked vertically with violet, deep green and grey, and is bordered below by a heavy black bar loaded with ridged paint. To the right, warm yellows run into burnt orange and rust, with a scraped grey-brown square at mid-height. A dark vertical shape flecked with red and black anchors the middle, while ochre and gold fill the lower band.
Colour is applied in short, dragged strokes so the knife marks and paint ridges catch light across the surface. The character is warm and architectural: strong geometric blocks softened by broken, weathered edges.
Suits a living room with white or warm grey walls, above a low sideboard or a leather sofa. The yellow and rust blocks work with timber floors, rattan and brass lighting, while the lavender-blue panel picks up denim or linen upholstery. Also a good fit for a hallway or a home office wall that needs warmth. Browse more the Statton Collection, abstract oil paintings, multi-coloured art.
