About Night Meteors
The canvas is filled almost entirely with dense black paint, laid on thickly enough to hold brush drag, small pits and a faint mottling that shifts between charcoal and near-grey where the light catches it. Two horizontal lines in off-white cross the lower middle. The upper line is shorter, tapering to a point just past centre, with a thin dark seam running through its length. The lower line is longer and heavier, stretching from the left edge to the right and sitting slightly proud of the surface like a ridge of applied paste.
Its character is quiet and severe: two bright marks measured against a large dark field, closer to a drawing scratched into night than to a painting of anything.
Suits a bedroom above a low upholstered bedhead, a hallway with pale plaster walls, or an office where a dark rectangle anchors a plain wall. Works with oak, black steel, linen and concrete finishes, and pairs well with a second monochrome canvas or a single brass wall light for grazing side light.
