About Old Kimono
A single kimono hangs open and flat across a pale ivory ground, its sleeves spread wide from a thin dark rod at the shoulders. The body of the garment is cream to pale sand, covered in fine creases and fold lines that catch shadow like aged, crumpled paper. Down the centre runs a broad panel of dark bronze-brown, heavily mottled and speckled, repeated at the collar, the sleeve cuffs and the deep hem band. A knotted cord sash sits at the waist, with a small patch of faded green showing near the left sleeve.
The mood is quiet and , closer to a museum textile record than a fashion drawing. A small red seal stamp in the lower right corner anchors the composition against the empty cream background.
Suits calm, neutral rooms with natural timber, linen and rattan. Works in a bedroom above a low bed, in a hallway, or in a home office beside a dark timber desk.
