A sharp, pyramid-shaped peak rises at the centre of this photograph, its upper slopes streaked with fresh snow and dark rock. Ridges of grey and brown mountain fall away to each side, with more snowfields on the right. Soft white clouds drift across a deep blue sky, and the whole peak is repeated upside down in the water below.
The lake fills the lower half of the frame in a saturated, even blue. On the left, a large boulder splashed with orange lichen sits at the water's edge and doubles in the reflection. A smaller pale rock with a tuft of green grass sits right of centre. Golden autumn grass and a small hut line the far shore, and the light is crisp and clear.
