A long timber pier runs from the upper left towards the right, shot from low down so the weathered concrete-and-timber piles stand large in the foreground. Each pile is dark at the base where it meets the water, and the railing along the deck edge leads the eye into the distance.
At the far end a small hut glows orange, the only warm colour in the scene. Above it the Milky Way arcs up through a dark, star-filled sky. The sea is smooth and silky from a long exposure, carrying soft grey reflections of the piles. This is a night photograph in cool blue-grey and charcoal tones.
