A black and white photograph of a narrow sealed road running away into thick fog. A tall, bare birch with fine drooping branches leans slightly beside the road on the left, its upper limbs fading into the pale sky. Further trees dissolve into the haze along the verge, and the road disappears before it reaches any horizon.
In the foreground a large puddle sits on the dark, grainy bitumen and mirrors the birch's branches in sharp detail. On the right, frosted grass and leafless shrubs line the roadside, while a flat field spreads out on the left. The tones run from near-black asphalt to a bright, milky white sky, with soft grey mid-tones in between.
