About Purnululu Gorge
The view looks out from inside a shallow rock overhang, so the top and both sides of the frame are edged by dark brown stone in deep shade. Beyond the opening, tall sandstone walls rise in warm rust and ochre bands, streaked with black water stains and patched with olive-green moss and low scrub. A rounded, horizontally banded dome sits in the centre gap, lit pale under a flat white sky. Below, a pale sand floor curves around a shallow green-brown waterhole scattered with dark rocks, with a single small tree standing near the middle.
Quiet and still, the image trades drama for scale: cool shadow in the foreground, sunlit stone beyond, and not a person in sight.
Suits a lounge room, bedroom or home office with timber furniture, linen upholstery and woven rugs. The rust, cream and olive tones sit well against white, clay or greige walls, and pair with other Australian outback photography, leather seating, rattan and dried-grass arrangements.
