About Raw Coast II
A portrait-format abstract built from broad horizontal sweeps that cross the canvas like weather over water. Deep teal and sea green dominate the left and centre, meeting a band of dusty plum and mauve on the right. Pale sand and warm beige fill the upper corners and the lower third, where chalky white streaks break across the darker tones. A thin dark line runs down the right of centre, the only distinct mark in an otherwise soft field.
The surface reads as thin, dragged colour on a textured ground, with the weave showing through the lighter passages and dry, scraped edges where one tone stops and the next begins. Its character is quiet and weathered, closer to a tidal flat at dusk than to a bright coastal scene.
Suits bedrooms, living rooms and beach-house hallways where the palette is already soft. It works against white, oatmeal or pale grey walls, and sits well above a linen bedhead, a timber sideboard or a two-seater.
