About Red Horizon
A single dark horizon line runs across the middle of this upright canvas, dividing the picture into sky and shore. Above it, crimson and scarlet are dragged into soft horizontal bands, with deeper maroon clouds smudged near the top and a brighter glow sitting just over the line. Below, the red lightens to a washed pink-red where flat water catches light, then darkens again in the lower third where scraped, broken marks suggest wet sand, ripples and low banks of foam.
The whole scene is built from one colour family, so the mood comes from tonal shifts rather than detail. It reads as a burning sunset over a shallow tidal flat, quiet but intense.
Works as a single focal piece above a low sideboard, a bedhead or a dark leather sofa, where the red can carry an otherwise neutral wall. Pairs with grey linen, charcoal, black metal frames and warm timber. Good in dining rooms and hallways lit by warm lamps; keep surrounding art and cushions plain.
