About Red Solo I
A single cloud-like canopy in deep crimson fills the upper half of the square, its rounded lobes edged with a soft dark halo against a pale cream and grey sky. Beneath it, a cluster of thin pale trunks and fine twiggy branches drops down like stems, some tinted rose, some almost white. A narrow band of green and yellow-green marks the ground line, dotted with small turquoise flecks, and the lower third is a broad field of dark chocolate brown streaked with rust.
The red mass carries a dense web of fine crackled lines through it, giving the canopy a worn, textured surface against the smoother washes of sky and earth. It reads as one bold shape held in balance by quiet, muted surroundings.
The square format suits a chimney breast, a hallway end wall or the space above a sideboard in a dining room. The crimson works against cream, greige or pale grey walls and picks up timber furniture, tan leather and brass. In a bedroom it pairs with white linen and a single dark timber bedhead. My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
