About River IV
A shallow river cuts diagonally from the upper left to the lower right of the frame, its surface a clear green-grey that shows pale stones and gravel on the bed beneath. Both banks are thick with autumn foliage: a maple branch reaches in from the left and across the water, its leaves running from lime green through yellow, apricot and deep red. On the far bank, birch and maple trunks rise into layers of yellow and rust, with strands of moss hanging from the higher limbs.
The mood is quiet and damp, the kind of cool morning light that makes wet leaves glow rather than glare. Detail is sharp in the near branches and softens into the forest behind.
Suits a living room with timber floors or a green-toned rug, a bedroom above a bedhead, or a home office wall that needs a view.
