About Shining Woman
A woman's face fills the canvas, tilted slightly with one hand raised near her chin, fingers resting along her cheek. The skin is broken into flat blocks of magenta, lemon yellow, lime green, turquoise and orange, divided by hard black outlines. Her eyes are large and dark with heavy lashes, her lips a deep red. The hair sweeps up from the forehead in streaked pink, blue and violet, dissolving into a black background scattered with white dots, stars and short dashes of colour.
The mood is loud and graphic, closer to a spray-painted wall poster than a studio portrait. Layered stencil shapes, drips and starbursts sit over the face rather than behind it, giving the whole image a busy, energetic street art feel.
Works in a living room with white or charcoal walls, a teenager's bedroom, a home office or a salon and dressing room where colour is welcome.
