A wide, snow-covered path runs straight into the distance between two rows of tall bare trees. Their dark, twisting branches arch overhead and hold thick lines of fresh snow along the upper sides. Low iron fences and lamp posts follow the edges of the path on both sides.
The light is soft and the tones are a warm sepia, close to black and white. Long branch shadows fall across the white path in loose, criss-crossing lines. Ploughed snow is banked along the edges, and a few tiny figures walk far ahead, which shows how long the avenue is. It is a photograph with fine detail in the bark and snow.
