About Velvet Red Bloom
A single large flower fills the square canvas, its six broad petals opening from just above centre and running off all four edges. The petals are built in crimson and deep burgundy, with white and pale pink strokes streaking outward along each one to suggest light catching the ridges. At the heart sits a rough disc of black paint loaded with gold, raised well above the surface. A dark stem line drops from the centre toward the lower edge of the canvas.
The background is a mottled grey-blue washed with rust and warm brown, scraped thin so the weave of the paint shows through. Applied with palette knife and brush, the surface carries visible ridges, scratches and small peaks that pick up light across the room. Its character is bold and slightly weathered, a simple flower treated with heavy texture rather than fine botanical detail.
Suits a living room above a low sideboard, a bedroom over a bed head, or an entry hall where one strong colour is enough. Works against grey, white or charcoal walls, and pairs with linen upholstery, timber furniture and brass or black metal lamps. The square shape sits well in a stairwell alcove.
