About St Kilda Pier Night Lights
A long line of pier lamps runs across the upper third of the image, each one flaring into a gold starburst against a near-black sky. Behind them sits the low silhouette of a pavilion with a small tower, and a band of grey cloud smeared flat by the long exposure. The lamplight drops onto the bay as broken vertical streaks of amber and pale yellow, blurring where the water moves. The lower half is dominated by a weathered timber jetty and a row of squat mooring piles catching cool green-grey light.
The character is quiet and still: warm artificial light held against cold water and a dark sky, with the rough grain of old timber close to the viewer.
Suits a bedroom or hallway where the dark background can settle into the wall, and works well in a home office or beach house lounge.
