About Standing Headless Man
A single figure stands in profile against a plain sand-coloured ground. Where the head should be there is only the collar of a dark coat, folded to a soft point, with a pale blue-white highlight along its upper edge. The coat is charcoal brown, narrowing sharply to a wedge at the hip, while one arm crosses in front of the chest. Below, narrow pale grey trousers with a fine dark seam run down to brown lace-up shoes with dark heels and soles.
The background is worked in loose horizontal washes of cream, oatmeal and warm grey, with faint vertical streaks and small scuffed marks near the lower right. The character is quiet and slightly unsettling: a well-dressed man reduced to silhouette, poised and anonymous.
Suits a home office, study or gentleman's room where the palette runs to timber, leather and warm neutrals.
