Warm light turns the cloth peach and cream where it catches the sun, with lilac and blue shadows down the folds. A long blue-grey shadow stretches across the lower left. At upper left a straw hat with a pink band sits alone on the sand, which is worked in broad beige, ochre and soft grey strokes.
