About Pastel Surfboards VIII
Seven surfboards stand upright across a square field of pale aqua, some cropped by the top and bottom edges so the row reads as a rack of boards seen up close. Two large boards in the centre-left and centre are washed in cream and sand with soft green and coral shadows down their flanks; the others carry mint green, sea green and coral pink with fine blue, teal or white centre stripes running their full length. Each board is outlined with a soft white halo.
The background is a mottled aqua wash, flecked with short vertical marks and small dots that suggest watercolour paper grain and salt texture. Edges are loose and slightly uneven, and pigment pools darker where the washes meet the board outlines. Colours stay light and chalky throughout. The character of the piece is relaxed and summery, an easy beach-shack motif handled with quiet, faded colour rather than bold graphic contrast.
Suits a beach house hallway, a bathroom above the towel rail, a child's bedroom or a bright living room with white walls and pale timber. It sits well with rattan, linen in mint or coral, whitewashed floorboards and brass or chrome fittings. Hang it as a square single or pair it with another board print from the series.
