About Temple of Joy

A tall red and white lighthouse stands slightly left of centre, its ringed tower and domed cap drawn in flat bands of colour. Around it a tight crowd of fishing boats fills the harbour, hulls broken into stripes, checks and blocks of green, purple, magenta, gold and black. Thin dark masts cross the sky in long diagonals against vertical bands of deep blue, mid blue and pale grey. Lettering appears on several hulls, including NAUTILUS, VOLTIGEUR and a numbered registration on the boat at far left.

Along the bottom edge, triangular blue and white sails overlap a shoal of spotted and striped fish swimming in rows. The surface reads as smooth flat colour with fine ink outlines and small dot and circle motifs. The character is playful and busy, a harbour reimagined as pattern rather than place, cheerful without being childish.

Suits a child's bedroom, playroom or family rumpus room where a big hit of colour is wanted.
