About The Pond II
A still green pond sits at the centre, ringed by dense summer trees and reflecting a sky of tall white cumulus. In the middle distance two white Adirondack chairs and a small timber deck face the water, half hidden by foliage. The foreground is thick with garden planting: tall pink bistort spires, yellow daisies, purple blooms and long grasses. A willow with pale blue-green trailing leaves fills the upper right corner, spilling past the edge of the picture.
The image is composed as a soft-edged vignette on white, with the willow and grasses breaking outside the rectangle. Its character is quiet and unhurried, a lived-in garden looked at on a bright, breezy afternoon.
