About To the Moon
A tall, plain composition filled edge to edge with a graded sky. Deep sky blue sits across the top, softening through pale aqua in the middle and fading to a warm cream-sand tone along the bottom. A single small white moon sits slightly right of centre near the top, the only object in the frame. Below the middle, white lettering reads I LOVE YOU in small spaced capitals, to the moon in a flowing italic script, and AND BACK in capitals underneath. The surface is smooth with fine photographic grain.
There is no horizon, no cloud and no detail to distract from the wording, so the whole image reads as calm open air at the end of the day. Its character is quiet and sentimental rather than decorative, carried entirely by colour gradient and the simple line of text.
Works in a main bedroom above the bedhead, in a nursery or child's room, and in beach house hallways where pale walls and white timber suit the sky tones.
