About Urban Scene VIII
A square image filled almost entirely with a flat red rendered wall. The surface shifts between deep crimson and a rustier, lighter red near the upper left, with faint sooty grey smudging low on the left side. Entering from the lower left edge, a thin black metal handrail runs diagonally upward and ends in a short hook near the centre, propped by a single vertical post. A small pale signature sits in the lower right corner.
The wall reads as textured render, slightly chalky, with fine mottling and shadow pooling under the rail. Everything else is emptiness. The character is quiet and graphic: one hard black line against a large field of warm red, more about balance and negative space than about the building it came from.
Works where a single strong colour can anchor the room: above a low sideboard in a living room, on a white wall in a home office, or at the end of a hallway. Pairs with black metal frames, charcoal linen, pale timber and concrete. The square format suits a chimney breast or a matched pair either side of a doorway.
