About Wedding Day
A slender fairy couple stands on top of an oversized cupcake, embracing face to face. The groom wears a dark teal tailcoat, narrow trousers and a black top hat; the bride wears a pale corseted dress with a ruffled skirt, white lace-up boots and a long veil that drifts up into the pink sky behind them. Both have translucent insect wings edged in soft white lines. The cupcake below has thick pink icing, a golden baked edge and a white gingham bow tied around its base.
The background washes from rose pink at the top into pale blue at the bottom, sprinkled with small turquoise and pink hearts and a tiny white bird near the upper edge. The surface carries a soft, slightly chalky finish with visible directional strokes in the sky. The character of the piece is light and storybook-like, romantic without being sugary, and drawn with long, exaggerated proportions that keep it playful.
