About White Floral Blues II
A rounded bouquet of flat, four and five petalled white blossoms fills the upper two thirds of this portrait composition. Each bloom carries a small centre dotted in olive and mustard, and the petals shade from bright white at the top to soft grey-lilac where they fall into shadow at the left. Slim olive and sage leaves push out between the flowers. Below, a clear glass jar holds the stems, its faint vertical highlights and the green stems inside visible through the glass.
The background is a mottled wash of slate blue, teal and dusty mauve with ghosted floral shapes stencilled into it, sitting above a plain blue-grey tabletop. The mood is quiet and a little faded, like a domestic still life seen in soft afternoon light.
Suits a bedroom above a dresser, a hallway console or a dining room wall where the blue-grey background can sit against white or pale putty paint. It pairs with rattan, weathered timber and linen in navy or sage, and works well hung as a pair with a second floral print of similar scale.
