About Wine Collection II
Three wine bottles stand close together in a tall, narrow composition. At front right a pale gold bottle carries a cream label reading Chateau Pique Se... Montravel 2005 with a blue emblem; behind it a dark green bottle wears a worn cream label, and a third bottle sits between them beside a half-filled glass of red. The bottles rest on loose straw and pale packing shavings over bare timber boards, with a cluster of purple grapes at lower left and a corkscrew with a stained cork in the foreground.
The background melts from rust and amber into deep shadow, so the light lands on the glass, the foil capsules and the aged paper labels. The mood is warm and quiet, closer to a cellar door table than a formal still life, with soft focus behind and crisp detail on the label type and the grapes.
Built for a narrow wall: a dining room chimney breast, the strip between kitchen cabinetry and a doorway, a butler's pantry or a hallway beside the cellar. It works with timber tables, rattan chairs, brass pendants and terracotta tiles, and pairs naturally with a second bottle or grape still life on the facing wall.
