About Silver Coin Blossom Tree
A dark brown tree rises from the lower edge, its trunk splitting into thin wiry branches that fan across the upper half of the canvas. Instead of flowers, the branches carry raised silver discs stamped with a square centre, like old cast coins, in two sizes: large medallions and small round buds. The background is split vertically, roughly two thirds deep crimson red on the left and a pale cream and stone panel down the right side. Both grounds are thickly textured with cracked, scraped paint.
The coins sit proud of the surface in heavy relief, catching light along their rims and ridged edges, while the trunk is built up in rough dark strokes streaked with grey. It reads as a good-fortune motif done in strong modern colour, graphic from a distance and tactile up close.
Suits a dining room, entry hall or lounge with white or grey walls, where the red panel can carry the room's accent colour. Works above a dark timber sideboard or a charcoal sofa, and pairs well with silver or chrome lamps, black picture frames and red cushions or a red runner.
