The five stages of a painting
The same care goes into our regular canvas art as into our famous reproductions.
The sketch
We sketch the contours first — often using a grid or specialised tools to keep every dimension accurate. The paint is built over this foundation.
The first layer
The first layer of paint is applied roughly. At this point the contrast with the final result is still very large.
The main outlines
Slowly the picture becomes clear. After each layer, the painter waits until the paint is nearly dry before continuing.
The details
The final result becomes clearly visible. A supervising master painter evaluates the work and offers advice.
Final inspection
Once the finishing touch is applied and the master painter completes a quality inspection, your masterpiece is ready.
