About Red on Black III
A square composition on an off-white ground shows a woman seen from behind and slightly to the side, her bare shoulders and back sketched in sweeping black strokes that fade to white along the spine. Her face is hidden beneath an oversized wide-brimmed hat, drawn in bold black with white gaps left open across the crown and brim. A thin red ribbon runs around the base of the crown, and small red marks sit near the hatband and by her raised hand.
The right side of the hat carries a spray of wispy pale feathers and a white flower, with two dark red-brown eye shapes tucked into the trim. Loose dry strokes and the plain pale background keep the image graphic and uncluttered, reading as confident fashion illustration rather than portraiture.
