About Berries
Six round cardboard punnets are arranged in two rows of three and photographed directly from above on a grey woven linen surface. The top row runs strawberries, raspberries, blueberries; the bottom row reverses the order with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries. Each basket is packed to the rim, so the fruit domes slightly above the pressed pulp edges. Scarlet strawberries keep their green calyx leaves, the raspberries show hollow centres and fine hairs, and the blueberries carry a dusty silver bloom over near-black skin.
The lighting is soft and even, with shallow shadows under the basket rims that separate the fruit from the pale grey cloth. Texture is the point here: the seeded skin of the strawberries, the beaded drupelets of the raspberries and the matte surface of the blueberries all read clearly at large sizes. The character is clean and appetising, a simple market-stall grid where strong red and blue sit against neutral grey.
Built for kitchens, butler's pantries and dining rooms, particularly above a sideboard or beside open shelving. The grey linen background suits concrete, stone or marble benchtops, while the red and blue fruit lifts white or pale timber cabinetry. Pairs well with other food photography prints or a run of black-framed recipe art. Browse more blue art, red art, or read Art above the bed: what size and how high.
