About Mosaic Zebra Colt
A single zebra head fills the right side of a pale grey-green canvas, turned three-quarters towards the viewer with both ears raised. The face is built from short, thick palette-knife blocks of red, cobalt blue, ochre, cream, green and violet, laid side by side like mosaic tiles down the muzzle to a dark, softly blended nose. Two dark eyes sit among the colour patches. The neck and mane sweep left in broad grey and charcoal stripes, interrupted by streaks of pink, yellow, silver and gold that thin out into drips near the lower edge.
The character is playful and graphic: an animal portrait reduced to colour, texture and stripe. The heavy raised paint on the face contrasts with the loose, half-finished washes running off to the left.
Suits a living room, hallway or open-plan dining wall where a grey or white background lets the colour blocks read clearly. Works in kids' rooms and teen bedrooms too. Pairs with pale timber, black metal furniture, linen sofas and simple monochrome prints rather than other busy artwork. Browse more animal art, pop art, popular art.
